Saving is a massive issue in lower to middle class South Africans. In the hopes to motivate their people to focus more of their income on saving and less on spending, the South African government initiated a tax-free investment model whereby all financial gains made throughout the investment period would not be taxed. This investible amount is capped, however, and exceeding it would result in taxable penalties.

Every year, right before the financial year-end and the start of the new tax-season, M&G Investments embarks on a marketing campaign to inform potential South African investors of the benefits of using this investment vehicle.

This campaign includes a mailer that features a basic Q&A document that answers many of the common questions a hesitant investor would need to know, a table highlighting the top-performing funds M&G Investments has on offer and a strong call-to-action, with buttons linking to further reading should they be interested in investing.

In 2022, we decided to add a motion graphic explainer video that highlights some of the key take-aways of tax-free investing in the hopes that prospective investors would be more enticed to read the Q&A and ultimately invest.
